How long does a gas bottle last?
How often you need to change the gas bottle depends on:
• what size you use and
• which time frames you have set in the MyBiogents APP for the CO2 release
| Recommended periods for CO2 emissions | Estimated lifespan of a 425g cylinder | Estimated lifespan of a 6kg bottle | Estimated lifespan of a 10kg bottle | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
![]() | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() | |
| House mosquitoes | 3:00 - 5:00 & 20:00 - 24:00 | 3 days | 48 days | 80 days |
| Floodwater mosquitoes | 7:00 - 23:00 | 1,5 days | 18 days | 30 days |
| Tiger mosquitoes | 8:00 - 10:00 & 16:00 - 23:00 | 2 days | 32 days | 50 days |
Recommendation for the handling of gas bottles:
CO2 cylinders should always:
• be stored upright,
• protected from excessive heat,
• and handled according to local safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines.

No additional emission of CO2
The CO2 in gas bottles is not explicitly produced to be bottled but is a recovered by-product from other industrial processes.
Therefore, the use of CO2 from gas bottles as a mosquito attractant does not represent an additional CO2 contribution to the planet, but is merely a delayed diffusion of CO2 as industrial waste.
