Description
FIGHT TIGER MOSQUITO REPRODUCTION IN THE LONG TERM WITH THE BG-GAT MOSQUITO TRAP
The BG-GAT (Gravid Aedes Trap) is a low-cost, non-electric, and easy to use outdoor tiger mosquito trap. It is the perfect complement to the BG-Mosquitaire mosquito trap. It targets those mosquitoes that have already bitten and are now searching for a place to lay their eggs. By imitating a breeding site, the traps help to stop future generations of tiger mosquitoes. Catching egg laying females and preventing the eggs from becoming adult biting mosquitoes helps provide long lasting protection. This sustainable trap works without power, the use of insecticides or CO2 and has been tried and tested worldwide.

Development
The BG-GAT trap was developed by Dr. A. E. Eiras from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and Dr. S. A. Ritchie from the James Cook University, Cairns, Queensland, Australia. Biogents produces and distributes the trap under a license agreement with both universities.
Placement
FOR MAXIMUM CATCH RATES, THE CORRECT PLACEMENT OF THE TRAP IS ESSENTIAL
In order to get the highest catch rates, test different locations!
The BG-GAT mosquito trap is to be used outdoors in the garden. Place the trap on the ground near resting areas of the mosquitoes, e.g., in shady, wind-protected places with high humidity such as in sparse shrubs. However, the trap should not be too hidden, but still visible. Do not place the trap directly on the terrace/patio and not in direct sunlight.
For efficient and sustainable mosquito control it is necessary to avoid competition between the BG-GAT trap and other breeding sites. Therefore, remove or empty competing breeding sites, such as flower pots, vases, buckets, water barrels, rain gutters, discarded cups and bottles, and plants that hold small quantities of water.

The perfect imitation of a breeding site
An imitation that will fool any egg-laying tiger mosquito
Trap
Visual cues and water plus organic material attract mosquitoes and the mesh prevents them from laying their eggs
Sticky Card
Mosquitoes get stuck on the sticky surface while trying to escape
Result
Preventing hundreds of their offspring
The trap prevents about 50 to 100 descendants with each captured female!
The trap imitates a breeding site for the mosquitoes to lay their eggs
Our unique capture method
no power supply – no chemicals – no attractant needed
This is how it works:
- Tiger mosquitoes that want to lay their eggs are attracted by water (preferably with organic material in it, e.g. a leaf or some blades of grass)
- The mesh provides a barrier between the mosquitoes and the water to prevent them from laying their eggs
- Mosquitoes try to escape through the translucent parts of the trap
- By touching the specially developed sticky cards, they get stuck and die
Best catch rates thanks to scientific approach
Scientific studies show high catch rates as well as the worldwide use of the traps
