Where to source CO2?

Biogents recommendation for the CO2 source

For our CO2 traps, we recommend using a 10 kg gas bottle. However, you could also use 5, 6, 10, or 20 kg if you prefer. How long the tank will last, depends on how many hours per day CO2 is released, which depends on the local mosquito activity through the day. If CO2 is released 24 hours with our recommended release rate of 0.5 kg/day, the CO2 tank will last 20 days.

Store the gas bottles not in direct exposure to sunlight

Carbon dioxide bottles should be stored outside of the direct exposure to the sun and other heat sources. The gas is heavier than air; in case of a leakage, CO2 might accumulate in enclosed areas, especially below ground level, if the storage site is not adequately ventilated.

Where can I get the CO2?

The gas bottles are not included in the contents.

The gas bottles can be acquired or rented at drink retailers or bottle depots for a deposit. A door-to-door delivery service may also be possible in some locations.
